Well, as far as I know, such activity causes a release of dopamine. Now it is believed that this neurotransmitter(brain chemical) is involved in addictive behaviours - it makes us feel good. I get this from all sorts of thigs that I do, watching TV, playing starcraft, and yes, even editing the boring waveforms that represent computer audio files. With this system of encouraging me to do the same thing, my life begins to lack variety and intellectual stimulation.

If we consider that the individual functional unit of the brain is the neuron. It is their connections that keeps the brain working. These connections will deteriorate through time if not activated. So the parts of the brain that I don't use will become non-functional. I will become a TV watching, Starcraft playing and music editing robot while too dopey to accomplish the many everyday tasks of a human being.

Hope none of you face the same doom. Experience variety in your lives, try something new, do something you don't want to, and enjoy being alive, not dopey.

The IQ of a fob

I was given free results of an IQ test today, and wasn't surprised to find that I performed worst in linguistics.
Here's the question:
It is easier to _______________ than to offer a helping hand.
A. It is a species of reptiles in which there are no males, only females. They reproduce by parthenogenic "virgin birth" in which offspring are clones of their mothers. However, they need to simulate mating with another female in order for biological mechanisms to work in reproduction. The same documentary also mentioned the gradual regression of the Y chromosome, the one which only males posess. The common human sex chromosome, X, contains about 1500 genes, whereas the Y chromosome, thought to be once comparable in size now contains only 76 genes. They project that in roughly 125,000 years, the Y chromosome will completely regress such that there is no more Y chromosome, and hence no more males. And if, we, as humans accumulate a mutation which allows autonomous fertilization, then our fate will mimic that of the Whiptail lizard. The human race will be a race of lesbians. If and when that happens, the two terms will be synonymous. The term heterosexual will have no purpose except in the realm of history, there will be one less inherent divide separating people of the world, we will be one step closer to unity, and our off-spring being clones means that in a way, we have achieved immortality. I hope this isn't starting to sound appealing to you.

More thoughts on this matter coming in future posts, so much in my head right now, can't wait to talk about it

Reminiscing your childhood

One of my old friends is turning 21 tomorrow. Such a perfect occassion for remembering the past. The wonderful thing about it is you can simply remember the events that happened, and attribute joy to them. Sure they were enjoyable back then, but the act of remembering brings joy in itself as it is a form of qualifying or quantifying your life. Change is the only thing that is constant, embrace it and look forward to it in the future. Indeed, reminiscing the past was a pleasant experience. I look forward to the future in which I can look back on every one of my friends now.

Love thy self

"All love begins with self-love.Often we start looking for love in all the wrong places. For some reason many of us believe that love actually resides outside of us, when really it resides within us. I guess for most of us, we have the paint, but we are yet to decide what we are going to paint.

Daily truth

The quickest way to an early grave is to deprive yourself of sleep... signing out for the night

The limited power of one

I'm sure you've all heard inspirational stories about self-motivation and determination leading the hero through obstacles. Well, this one is about strength from others. What happened today was just a small reminder of why we need people who care about us and how they help us to carry on through life. There was a task that I was attempting to accomplish today, but as time passed on, the prospect of success was rapidly diminishing. Just before deciding to quit, some friends come along to offer their time, and perspective on the matter. This provided me with the strength to persevere because now: I had their company, and no longer thought about the result of failing, but enjoyed the process of trying to succeed, I had gained inspiration from them not ignoring me or seeing my efforts as a lost cause, and had provided me with essential insight that I did not have. And so to you from the bottomahar, I thank you. I shall use this experience to consolidate and fortify how I would treat my friends.

Daily truth

Happiness demands a backbone of humility.
A modest person has the strength accept weakness.
A modest person expects no more of the world than that exists.
A modest person sees ones flaws, and improves upon them.
A modest person values others

Sometimes I may think I am invincible, I deserve more from the world and that I am perfect,
there may even be times that I do not value my friends, but definitely not right now, for I am reminding myself of how blessed I truly am to have you.

<img border='0' style='border:1px solid #000000; That's right, looks like we are becoming gentlemen one by one, and we'll soon be able to visit the clubs for people the likes of us, if we wish to that is... So, why is it they call it a gentlemen's club anyway. The name is so deceiving. To the unsuspecting F.O.B, that's right, fabulous oriental being, it sounds like a gathering of highly refined men... what else could they do but engage in enlightening, morale boosting and mateship enhancing activities... such as watching the footy, playing pool and poker, and singing gay, i mean jolly, songs. Well if that is what you believe, then you should encourage your man to attend more of these gentlemen club meetings.

So, at birthday parties you hear people's testimonials of their friend, and it is one of the few opportunities that you have of learning about the many wonderful and weird qualities of this friend. It truly entertains and inspires the people who attend. Thanks mate for a great birthday party which has added another tier in my regard and respect for you. And for my other friends yet to officially become gentlemen, go out there, perform some more gentlemanly deeds so that speeches at your party will further inspire us all.

Sport, oh wonderful Sport

Sport is great, if you already know that then I'm glad for you, and if you do not, then this is a wake up call. There are so many benefits that I'm not even gonna bother naming. Now something that may put you off sport, especially if ur a tanky, macho type of guy, is you get defeated by a girl, that's right, a being that is on average shorter, lighter, weaker, and who do more talking and less walk except in the supermarket (oh I'm so gonna get beaten up for this).
Not that such indignities would ever happen to a masculine man such as myself... well, so I was recently put off sport *dodgy eyes*, but I've found its not about external perceptions, but should be purely internal, your own sense of well-being and achievement. I hope that finding closure in the way I look at sport will help me find closure in many other aspects of life too. Hope my readers can experience what I'm talking about and adjust their lives accordingly. Now that comment reveals two important points. One is that in many ways I have as much self esteem as a mule, now I can't think of anything else as a substitute, but i know that a mule works its ass of for humans, getting slapped around on the butt (ohh my vocab is fantastic, i just used 2 different words to express the meaning of bottom). The second point is that, one of the reasons why I'm going to write a blog, is to hopefully enhance my mastery of the art of BSing (b^!! $h!77!n6). Ofcourse other reasons are to provide me with another means of procrastination during my fulfillment of my duties as ARBC member #69
