The IQ of a fob

I was given free results of an IQ test today, and wasn't surprised to find that I performed worst in linguistics.
Here's the question:
It is easier to _______________ than to offer a helping hand.
A. Raise a flag B. Be on the ball C. Lay down D. Point the finger or E. Sing praises

Obviously Laying down is the easiest, it's what we do for about 1/3 of the time we spend in this world.
Unfortunately, the geniuses who set the answers disagree.

So they say:
"Critics suggest that both IQ and standardized tests are racially and culturally biased".
I cannot think of anything unbiased other than nature itself.
Please feel free to share any exceptions

It is easier to read someone else's blog than to come up with things to write on your own blog. :P

Hmm. Does that mean that the questions in IQ tests and standardized tests are biased as in they are skewed to the general opinions held by the race and culture of the person setting the test? Because I suppose that would be true.

ooh..tickle.com, right? i've done that test!

i think i put down d, because of the association between fingers and hands.

i don't believe this is a reliable test at all. they've put in many linguistics and maths problems, so that their prepared 'raise ur iq' packages can easily increase ppl's 'iqs'.

8-)

US SAT scores are apparently reliable measures of IQ. or hmm.. perhaps that televised aust IQ program from some years back?

wow i've always been intrigued by iq tests...although i think most of them are too short to really determine how smart a person is. My ideal iq test would be one which lasts for like 5 hours, in which fatigue of the person's brain and the decline in thinking process should be taken into account. The longer someone is examined and probed, the more accurate the result :)

time is unbiased.

also interesting observation from chao... i guess there can be two types of tests,
i) testing how high your 'peak' focus/concentration level is (ie, how much you can achieve when you fully focus) - ie kurtosis test/100m sprint test
ii) testing how durable our brains are - stamina test/cross country test. this kinda go beyond a 5 hour IQ test. it is more akin to see how long u can sustain focused on a topic of learning.

some of us are better at one than the other, but in the general scheme of things, usually ii) is preferred to i), and we observe, on average, cross country experts fare better than the 100m sprint champions - one who can sustain concentration usually do better than one who has moments of small geniuses. The exception being when someone is really really good at i) - examples are Einstein etc.
the conclusion would therefore be, for us ordinary mortals, to try improve ii) :P
